While the game (like all the other games) does not reveal in PPT points form what tropes are attached to which characters, the nature of a visual novel is in the writing. Hence, it is for the readers to have fun in figuring out the story, narrative, themes and messages these writers want to convey. The great thing about CN otome games that, a lot of their written content comes voiced so you get another form of content to gain and glean the context are.

As it stands, the game itself has shown two different directions based on language and culture; 哥哥 CN (お兄ちゃん JP & 오빠 KR) and childhood friend EN (localization). I personally prefer CN and, reiterating, personally, only consider CN to be the only way of reading his character and our relationship with him. Been doing that since a year ago and his release simply confirmed my views and I liked that PG was not holding themselves back from playing hard on the 哥哥 trope.

However, even then, there are also differences in which 哥哥 people will read this narrative and story in. Again, you are free to read this however you want to.

I talked about this before multiple times and emphasizing that he is the 哥哥 trope and even had another CN otome game that uses the same trope as example. A lot of the people I know who have consumed a lot of different CN media and from looking the general vibe of his chaohua, a lot of the players lean onto the fact that his trope is 伪骨科. 

You are free to see it as such or take it on the "哥哥 is how you refer to older guys" side. The main theme that is still prevalent in any of these ways is that there is still that teetering on the line tension. So if you still find yourself unsure, simply focus on the way they write that tension, you'll enjoy the narrative no matter what.

I am only a person that enjoys CN otoges and checking out different writings, narratives and storytelling. So, what I can give you is a little view on this but I am not the writers themselves to give that final 'this is it' type of clarification. All I have is my perspective of this based on my media and reading experiences as well as what I've seen in the culture itself.

I wish you the best in deciding which way to read him because remember, at the end of the day, it's your enjoyment you should consider. The writers already did their job at telling the story, how you take it is in your hands.

hello, since you play other Chinese otome games I would like to hear your perspective also the fact you like Caleb. I need clarity on the Caleb/MC trope. It seems like people can never really be clear on him and mc’s relationship? like people say no it’s not incest! saying they never saw each other as sibling. but the other half say that they did/do see each other as family but want to be seen as more than just each other’s meimei/gege and then people start with the whole explaining gege things. and I just want to know where we stand?? like im confused atp ngl 😔🙏
